Lonely librarian George decides to write The Obselidia, an encyclopedia of obsolete things. In his quest to document nearly extinct occupations, he befriends Sophie, a beautiful cinema projectionist who works at a silent movie theatre. George believes that love, among other things, is obsolete. Sophie believes that nothing is obsolete as long as someone loves it. They journey to Death Valley to interview a maverick scientist who is predicting the end of the world. The two must face the question, if everything you love is going to disappear tomorrow, how should you live today?
