When eighteen-year-old Grace Campbell arrives in London in 1914, she's unable to fulfill her family's wishes for her to become an office secretary. She instead takes a housekeeping job at Number 35, Park Lane, and quickly gets caught up in the lives of its inhabitants. Grace soon learns that choices made during the rapidly changing time of World War I will connect her chances at future happiness to her employers' in dramatic, inevitable ways.
