Kate McKay is a modern female executive in New York City who has little time for romance. When her genius ex-boyfriend Stuart opens a portal in time, the experiment transports Stuart's great-great-grandfather Leopold from 1867 to the present day. Leopold is fascinated by the 21st century, so Stuart persuades Kate to escort the time traveler around the city while he frantically attempts to devise a method of sending his ancestor back to the proper era.
