Interweaving documentary and fiction, this DVD documentary, World-Weariness introduces us to the musical world of Franz Schubert ... through a series of documentary vignettees shot, for the most part, in Austria. They are interspersed with musical movements from the quartets "Death and the Maiden" and "Rosamunde, " and two lieder, "The Erl King" and "Serenade." This music provides the score for choreographed segments featuring costumed dancers and actors moving about in an imaginary setting. (Cf. container).
