Abstract:
"The Gun Sculpture is a powerful anti-violence statement -- a prison-cell sized, walk-in sculpture constructed from thousands of knives, assault rifles, handguns, land mines and other weapons. The Art of Peacemaking chronicles the work of Canadian sculptors Sandra Bromley and Wallis Kendal as they transform the dark energy of this myriad hardware with their fiery passion. They struggle to master the skills of de-activating guns, labouring exhaustively amidst the mountains of weapons arriving from the world's trouble spots. Their project received support from groups as diverse as the PLO, the Israeli Army, Sinn Fein and the Loyalist UDP"--Container.
