Abstract:
Japan, 20th century. Haru, a traveling musician playing the shamisen - a traditional Japanese instrument - becomes famous as her art and the beauty of her singing touch the hearts of the region's inhabitants. During her journey, she manages to seduce a kappa, one of the most famous youkai in Japan, who offers her the key to the divine dimension. By resuming her path, Haru will then meet the emblematic protagonists of Japanese mythology and folklore. This tale, directly inspired by the life of the famous goze Haru Kobayashi (1900-2005), explores the themes of beauty and freedom through art, as well as the power of folk music, generating the identity of Japanese culture.
