In August 2012, NASA's Mars Science Laboratory engineers lowered the largest, most complex Mars rover ever built to the surface of the Red Planet. Named Curiosity, the rover carries unique scientific instruments that will help scientists determine whether Mars was ever capable of sustaining life.
