"This volume will be the first to present Tillmans's contributions as a writer, and the significance of his language deserves recognition. From the outset of his engagement with magazines in the early 1990s, the artist has contributed numerous texts alongside his path-breaking photographs. More recently, his engagement with activism has produced a significant body of writings on a variety of issues, and since 2015, he has utilized the social media platform Instagram as a means of sharing texts and ideas (as well as images).
