Examines the work and methods of four American textile artists: Faith Ringold, creator of painted story quilts that tell the African American experience and the history of Harlem; Randall Darwall, maker of quilts and garments; Consuelo Jiminez Underwood, who incorporates weaving, sewing, painting, and applique to address her indigenous heritage; Terese Agnew, who makes quilts using a method she calls "drawing with thread".
